Tell All & Welcome

Tell All about this week's recipe - Chicken Paella with Sausage and Olives. I'm super excited about this one!

Let's also welcome a new member Jen of The Rookie Baker:

Hi! I'm Jen of The Rookie Baker. I just started my blog last week to document my cooking and baking adventures. I enjoying being in the kitchen and cooking delicious, and healthy, meals for my family. I've been married to my husband for 4 years, and we have an almost 2-year old son. I love Ellie's recipes and would love to cook along with everyone! We are trying to expand our eating horizons, and this will be a good opportunity to try things we may have passed up otherwise!

  2. Welcome to the group, Jen! I have challenged myself to try most of the recipes chosen by the group in the past year or so that I've been a member, and it's been amazing to see how many things I didn't think I would like that I ended up loving.

Now, for this week's recipe, let me premise this by saying that I am on medication right now that's making me a bit hazy so maybe I'm just missing something, BUT, the first step in the book is to preheat the oven yet I don't see anywhere in the recipe where we actually bake anything? Am I being totally oblivious or is this a typo? Thanks, CEiMBers!

  3. Welcome Jen ~ I can't wait to see what you cook up :)

Liz ~ OMG ~ that IS hilarious - I had to re-read it twice and cannot find a place where you put anything in the oven. I thought oh, maybe you bake the chicken or finish it off in the oven, but, nope - I think it's a BIG typo LOL.

I can't wait to whip this up - YUM!

For those who might need a link - while it's not on foodnetwork.com, I did see this site posting her recipe

I was drooling over this recipe when trying to decide what to make for my rotation recipe so now I can't wait to make it!

  4. Welcome, Jen!

Liz, thanks for catching that typo. That'll save me some time when I make this; now I won't stand there staring at the book, confused lol!

  5. I made it yesterday and I thought it said to finish cooking in the oven for 30 minutes? I had to cook mine 40 for the rice to get done.

  7. Peggy is right - I reread the recipe for the third time and now see that the last two sentences are where it talks about baking. It's hidden! LOL I should not read recipes while medicated though I did have my boyfriend read it and he didn't catch that either! So sorry for the confusion, but I'm glad others skimmed over that too so I don't feel so bad :)

  8. LOL ~ Peggy & Liz ~ OMG both The Husband and I read it twice and STILL didn't see it. As I was finishing it up, I was like Ohhhhh no..... you finish cooking it in the oven.

I whipped it up tonight and it was AWESOME! I changed it up a bit for what I had on hand but would totally make it again. I give it 5 stars and consider it a great comfort meal for the winter.
