Favorite Post of the Week - Mushroom, Onion and Basil Pizza

Here's Joanne's comment on her favorite Mushroom, Onion and Basil Pizza post:

My pick is a late comer but surely the best since the pizza pick made LIZ a mushroom convert. She now can appreciate the earthy taste of the lovely 'shroom. YAY LIZ!

I also like her description because it's exactly why I'm such a pizza lover: "....carby goodness, tangy tomato sauce, gooey cheese, and whatever other yummy additions I may have laying around or am craving at the moment."

So my pick of the week is Liz of Not So Skinny Kitchen

Here's Jessica's comment on her favorite Apple Brown Betty post:

'I'm glad everyone enjoyed it as much as I did! I really enjoyed everyones posts, and how each person really made it their own. My favorite was from Danica at Danica's Daily. I loved her process pictures, especially the "apple, peeler, corer" and the bread crumbs.'

Favorite Post of the Week - Tomato-Tortilla Soup

Mary of Popsicles and Sandy Feet chose the post written by Bri of Yoshimi Vs. Motherhood on the Tomato-Tortilla Soup as her favorite post, here she explains why:

'This was my favorite post....I like the variety of pictures, I like when she spoke about the immersion blender (which I want!), and I like how she gave tips (make extra tortilla strips).'

Fall Blogroll Clean Up

It's time to clean up the Blogroll!

As the rules state you have to participate at least twice a month, also if you host you have to actually make and post the recipe you pick. For september we checked the blogs and a couple of the members didn't comply with the rules, therefor I'm removing them from the blogroll and the recipe rotation.

If you feel you were mistakenly dropped from the blogroll and recipe rotation, contact me at cravingellieinmybelly@gmail.com. When you know in advance that you won't be able to participate in a certain month, let us know by sending an email to: cravingellieinmybelly@gmail.com

November Recipes + looking for a volunteer

When I took over hosting CEiMB from Sara a couple of us thought it would be a good idea to make sure that the rules for CEiMB were complied with. For the cooks that participate faithfully every week it can be discouraging to cook a recipe and then find out that the person who picked the recipe didn't even bother to cook and post it. However since I went back to school I found that I don't have time to check all the blogs every month to see if everyone posted at least one of the chosen recipes for CEiMB and if the host posted the recipe she chose.

So now I am looking for a volunteer: is there someone who would be willing to check out all the blogs once per month to see a) if that months hosts actually hosted their recipe and b) if the blogger posted one CEiMB post that month? If you are willing to do this at the end of every month, please send me an email at cravingellieinmybelly@gmail.com!

Please note that if you hosted a recipe and did not post it, you will be removed from the blogroll. The same goes for anyone who hasn't posted any CEiMB-posts in a month. If you no longer want to be a part of CEiMB, please let me know via email at cravingellieinmybelly@gmail.com so I can drop you from the recipe rotation and blogroll. If for some reason you're not able to participate at any given time, also please let me know via email!

Without further ado I now give you the recipes for November:

4 November, 2010: Joanne of Apple Crumbles selected Mushroom, Onion and Basil Pizza on page 1706 of The Food You Crave.

11 November, 2010: Kayte of Grandma's Kitchen Table chose Whole Wheat Pasta Salad with Walnuts and Feta Cheese on page 137 of The Food You Crave.

18 November, 2010: Margaret of Tea and Scones picked Cioppino on page 199 of So Easy.

25 November, 2010: Thanksgiving special - choose your own recipe - deadline postponed to Friday November 26th. 2010

2 December, 2010: Bri of Yoshimi Vs. Motherhood decided on Tortellini-Spinach Soup on page 90 of So Easy.

Thanksgiving at Craving Ellie in My Belly

Hi Everyone,

Last week I sent out an email to the members who get to pick the recipes for November, one of the members noticed that the date of their pick was Thanksgiving. Now as most of you all know I'm not American and even though I know your holidays, I was completely unaware of the exact date of Thanksgiving.

Bri of Yoshimi Vs. Motherhood suggested to do what we did last year: have us all choose our own recipe to make and post about. This will give everyone some flexibility with the holiday and still be able to participate. Perhaps even try to incorporate your Ellie recipe pick into your Thanksgiving meal if possible.

Also, the posting deadline was extended to Friday last year so that we don't have to worry about posting and blogging on TG if we don't want to. Would you all prefer to extend the deadline this year too?

Let me know your thoughts!!!

LYL - Almond French Toast Bake

Can't wait to see what this will look like.

Sorry Heide, but I won't be making this: I have a strange aversion to baked eggy bread-dishes.

LYL - Energy Bars

Sorry guys, I totally forgot to post the LYL for last weeks Energy Bars..... Life's been hectic lately

Welcome to Lindsey and Tiffany

Let's all welcome our newest members Lindsey and Tiffany!

Lindsey of 71 Cookbooks
I'm new to the blogging world--both as a reader and a writer--but am not new to cooking healthy recipes.  Many friends and coworkers ask me to e-mail them ideas for healthy recipes, so I thought I'd try blogging!  As a Cooking Light addict for the past 3 years, I've decided to branch out and try Ellie Krieger and others who develop healthy recipes.  My blog chronicles my day-to-day experiences in the kitchen as I put all 71 of my cookbooks to use!

Tiffany of A Spoonful of laughter and a heap of love
I enjoy cooking and baking (most of the time) and a blog just seemed like a really good way to expand my horizons and keep track of the new recipes I try.
I heard about Craving Ellie in my Belly because I frequent some of your members blogs.

Favorite Post of the Week - Salmon Cakes with Ginger-Sesame Sauce

My favorite post from my pick of Salmon Cakes with Ginger-Sesame Sauce was from Joanne of Apple Crumbles. I love how she turned the cakes into a sandwich with Arnold Sandwich Thins and swiss cheese. I also want to say thanks to Bri of Yoshimi vs. Motherhood for making the cakes even though she isn't a fan of salmon, and I am glad that her husband really enjoyed them.

Thanks!

Cooking and baking for my family and friends feels wonderful because we create warm moments that can last past any dish created. With my blog and food photos, no one ever asks if I am just a cookbook and recipe collector - kind of a quiet compliment =).

Okay, on to my favorite post...I really loved Jessica's post on Learning to Love Vegetables. The pictures were fantastic and I really loved the step by step pictures! I know I found posts like that helpful when I first started on my blogging/cooking/baking adventures.

Favorite Post of the Week - Grilled Chicken with Warm Tomato and Corn Salad

It's time for Danica of Danica's Daily to pick her favorite post on the Grilled Chicken with Warm Tomato and Corn Salad, so let's see who she picked......

"It was really hard to choose a winner of this week's CEiMB Grilled Chicken with Warm Tomato/Corn Salad because everyone had such a fun spin on it with amazing pictures.

I LOVE how some of those who were/are scared of raw tomatoes ventured out to try them - so proud of you all :D

I LOVED how LIz used the avocado shell for presentation ~ beautiful as always Liz!

http://thenotsoskinnykitchen.com/ceimb-warm-tomato-and-corn-salad/

But, I liked the Black Bean Spin that Sarah put on her version and her picture is awesome too!

http://sarahskitchenadventures.blogspot.com/

But, hands down, I have to say the person who went out on a limb Next Food Network Star Style and picks a different meat entirely is Joanne. Her pictures are fantastic and I LOVED how delicious she made Tuna look versus chicken.

http://www.applecrumbles.com/2010/07/22/ceimb-tuna-with-warm-tomato-corn-salad/

So....This week the winner is Joanne!

Thanks again to everyone who cooked with me. I had a blast cooking with you all and look forward to the next recipe....I've never made a Mango Lasse but I am about to :)"

Favorite Post of the Week - Panzanella with Chicken Sausage

It's time for Peggy of Pantry Revisited to pick her favorite post on the Panzanella with Chicken Sausage, so let's see who she picked......

"I loved all the blog posts this week so it is almost impossible to choose just one!!. But if I have to, I'll choose Kathryn of Grandma's Kitchen Table giving her a thumb's up for trying something she knew she probably wouldn't like - wet bread!! She was so cute saying she tried one piece and then picked all the rest out and tossed to the side! And serving a wonderful looking side dish of gnocchi with it. Honorable mention has to go to Joanne of Apple Crumbles for the funniest comment that you should "never ask your guests if you can photograph their sausage"."

Welcome & Tell All - Chicken with Warm Tomato and Corn Salad

Lets all welcome the newest member of CEiMB - Jessica of Learning to love vegetables:

I'm a late-twentysomething newlywed who's interested in nutrition and health. However, I also love pizza, candy, and wine. I started my blog to chronicle my attempts to learn to love and embrace vegetables (even those that aren't covered in delicious cheese). I'm also hoping that blogging will help me cook beyond my comfort zone of staple recipes.

The Chicken with Warm Tomato and Corn Salad sounds like the perfect summer meal to me, let us know your thoughts on it!

August Recipes!

Hey everyone,

Wow, I thought it would be easy to keep up with this but somehow the last couple of weeks got a bit hectic. Had some small drama's like neck/back pain and headaches resulting into the p.g. sending me to fysiotherapy as well as my friend cancelling our vacation to Turkey.
Also lots of fun things: my brothers birthday, SIL's birthday and my own birthday as well as one of my friend graduation and planning/booking a trip to Paris, France!

From now on I will ask the person that picked the recipe for a certain date to select that post that they loved the most: that post will be featured here on CEiMB. Because you are all probably very busy this summer I wanted to post the recipes for August early so that you can plan/cook ahead if you want to! So here are the picks for August and the last one for July:

29 July: Leslie of Lethally Delicious decided on Mango Lassi on page 43 of TFYC

5 August: Jennifer of The Rookie Baker chose Shrimp Fra Diavolo with Spinach on page 162 of SE

12 August: Chaya of Chaya’s Comfy Cook Blog picked Sloppy Joes on page 90 of TFYC

19 August: Sarah of Sarah’s Kitchen Adventures went for Salmon Cakes with Ginger-Sesame Sauce on page 226 of TFYC

26 August: Pam of Cooking with Boys selected Mixed Berry Cobbler on page 239 of SE

I think we have a lovely diverse selection for the month of August!!!

Some Ideas

Last night, while I was sitting in a traffic jam at 0:30 am for no apparent reason on a high way in the middle of bleeping nowhere I was thinking about this blog. Those of you who participate in Tuesdays with Dorie will probably recognise what I'm about to suggest.

The recipes for the next couple of weeks are always posted in the sidebar on the left. I was wondering if you guys would appreciate it if we also published a post as soon as all the recipes for one month would be known? This way you'll get a reminder whenever new recipes are posted and you don't have to check the blog every now and then to see if a new recipe has been posted.

I've also been wondering if it was a good idea to make a post on each Thursday where everyone can leave their link if they made that weeks recipe, this way you don't have to go through the entire blogroll (which isn't a big deal right now, but if the group expands a lot this might be handy).

Let me know your thoughts and also feel free to leave any suggestions for the blog in a comment below!

Tell All & Welcome

Tell All about this week's recipe - Chicken Paella with Sausage and Olives. I'm super excited about this one!

Let's also welcome a new member Jen of The Rookie Baker:

Hi! I'm Jen of The Rookie Baker. I just started my blog last week to document my cooking and baking adventures. I enjoying being in the kitchen and cooking delicious, and healthy, meals for my family. I've been married to my husband for 4 years, and we have an almost 2-year old son. I love Ellie's recipes and would love to cook along with everyone! We are trying to expand our eating horizons, and this will be a good opportunity to try things we may have passed up otherwise!

Update on CEiMB

Lately Sara has been to busy to update CEiMB. I (Marthe of Culinary Delights) offered to take it over from her to keep this site running. She was very happy to provide me with the information so that we can keep enjoying this great group. I will also provide this information to two other members (Liz and Margaret) so that they can update the blog when I for some reason cannot.

It seems that a lot of members have been inacticve for a while, therefor I will send you all an email or leave you a comment on their blog to see if you still want to be a part of CEiMB. I will then add you back onto the blogroll

Please note that reorganization is currently in progress so be patient as I make necessary updates.

New Members

Hi All,

This week we are welcoming Danica of Danica's Daily:

Hi all ~ I am Danica of Danica's Daily. I started my site in 2009 to share my daily adventures in cooking, traveling, eating, working out, just having fun and enjoying life. I love to run, bike, be active and do any type of exercise that does not seem like exercise. Since I am an avid recipe developer and someone who LOVES to eat, I have a slight kitchen gadget and cookbook addiction. My other addiction ~ The Food Network! Every time I watch Ellie, I end up making one of her delicious dishes! I can't wait to join in the fun and give myself a reason to buy more cookbooks :D
