Tell All - Double Chocolate Pudding Pie

Alright! I think this is the first dessert pick since I have been a member of CEiMB.

I am excited to try this out, it sounds like it is going to be delicious.

If you are not in the mood for a whole pie, just make the pudding, you could even crumble some graham crackers on top for a little crunch.

Just remember that this is a sweet treat, so don't eat the whole thing yourself!

Let's hear about it.

  1. Making the pudding is such a good idea, Sara. Thanks! I wasn't sure I'd have time to get this one together but I can definitely make the pudding. Can't wait to try this recipe out.

  2. I can't eat the whole thing myself? ;)

Excited to try this. I'm assuming unflavored gelatin is by the pudding mixes in the normal supermarket? Right?

  4. Ryan and I tried this yesterday. He, as the true chocolate lover in the house, loved it, but I was a little disappointed in the texture of it. It had a nice chocolatey flavor but was more solid and Jell-O-like than like the creamy pudding i was expecting. I'm sure that's more of a personal preference though.

Alyssa - Yes, the unflavored gelatin was near the pudding mixes and baking stuff in my store.

  5. I came up short with the crust... there was barely enough to come up the sides, so it wound up looking pretty uneven. This happen to anyone else? Otherwise, the pie looks and smells delicious. Bringing it to a birthday party tonight, can't wait to taste it!

Some of the Food Network reviews I read said the crust wasn't quite enough.

  7. I will be using 1 1/2 cups GC crumbs + 4 TBS butter + approx. 1 1/2 TBS sugar...saves cleaning the food processor. It is more than enough for a 9" pie plate.

  8. Food Network reviews! Brilliant! Next time I will definitely be reading those before I start...didn't cross my mind at all. Thanks :)

  10. Awesome! This was fan-freakin'-tastic. Creamy and chocolaty, with the crunchy graham crust. Yum, yum, yum! I was doubtful going in...but I am glad I tried it. Great pick!

  13. Ok seriously.. I had to delete the last two comments because of my spelling.. such a nerd! What I was going to say was...

I think I'm going to try making it in a spring form cake pan. That way I can easily cut it and it might be more like a bar?? Either that or make it in a tart like pan.. who knows.

It's got chocolate so it'll be good either way :)

  14. Alyssa, you are too funny.

A bar is a good idea since this seems like it's going to set really firmly. Can't wait to see your pictures!

  15. I made it tonight and I left out the gelatin and added a a little more cornstarch. Didn't set very firm so I popped it in the freezer and we had a nice cool slice - still yummy anyway, even if my pics will look crummy! (excuse the pun)
